Mark Brazier-Jones embodies the spirit of artistic rebellion that The Library celebrates. Born in New Zealand in 1956 and relocating to the UK at 12, Brazier-Jones transcends traditional design classifications as an artist, sculptor, furniture maker, and lighting designer. His extraordinary journey from the vibrant London warehouse party scene—where he performed "art welding" alongside Tom Dixon and Nick Jones—to co-founding the influential Creative Salvage Group in 1983 reflects his maverick spirit. Working from a 16th-century barn in Hertfordshire, Brazier-Jones crafts limited-edition and bespoke pieces that merge technical precision with theatrical flair. His masterful bronze castings and sculptural furniture pieces represent the perfect intersection of functional art and timeless craftsmanship.
